James Joseph Biography
After working as a civil litigator for years, James dedicated his legal practice to fighting for victims. He has secured millions of dollars for his clients since joining the Jurewitz Law Group in 2020. James has experience with all aspects of a case from medical treatment, discovery, mediation, and trial. James also represents clients on employment matters as well. From wage theft claims to discrimination claims, James strives to ensure his clients cannot be bullied by abusive bosses or large corporations.
In 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023, James was recognized by his fellow peers as a “Rising Star” in the legal community. This recognition is given to the top 2.5% of attorneys under the age of 40 in the State of California that have practiced for less than ten years. Also in 2022, James was named as a “Top 40 under 40” of Civil Plaintiff Attorneys in the State of California by the National Trial Lawyers organization.
James is a Professor at the University of San Diego Law School. He teaches trial advocacy and skills. Each semester, he trains select law students to compete in national mock trial tournaments.
James has previously clerked for Federal Magistrate Judges Hon. William V. Gallo and Hon. Jill L. Burkhardt. He was a member of the Moot Court Executive Board and traveled nationally for the Mock Trial Team. He won multiple awards for his oral advocacy skills, including the American College of Trial Lawyers Medal for Excellence in Advocacy.
